Hi, looking for some help please. I have a 2002 Z3 E36 Sport 3.0i. The siren has caused my alarm to go off, so I am told I need a replacement siren. Mine has a battery backup, but I am unsure where to find the battery, BMW states both discontinued parts. Would a secondhand siren from another BMW model without battery backup work? Not sure if that would work. Mine has 4-pin plug at the front of the siren.
My Auto Electrition guys have told me this information but draw a blank about the above questions.

Guys, sorted the issue by using a second-hand Siren from eBay, Mini & Landrover use the same part number. My original Z3 Siren, batteries leaked, and the circuit board was black and corroded due to age. The one from eBay, I cut open to replace the batteries (circuit board was like new from Mini 2007), which are available to buy new on eBay.There is a YouTube video guide from a guy who did the same as I did. To remove the Siren, you will need a long extension bar on an 11mm bolt extractor socket to remove the anti-theft bolt. Then remove the washer bottle, and you can gain access from the side to replace the old Siren with the newer one with new batteries. The connector plug is at the front right-hand side of the Siren and has a plug release connector. I trust this helps all those who have the same issues as I did. Note the batteries in the Siren are charged by the main battery on the Z3 and are rechargeable cells 7.2V in total when fully charged.
