Hi all,
I had to replace the battery in my '04 3.0I. I attached a battery minder to the under hood terminals prior to disconnecting the old battery. R and R the battery according to the correct procedure. Everything works except I'm unable to set the clock, haven't tried to raise or lower the top. After more investigation it appears that the battery must be "registered" by hooking up a scanner. Allegedly the new battery's life may be shortened if I don't do this. True or False⁉⁉⁉

It is possible that the car has gone into "Transport Mode", I don't know why this happens, it's not a regular occurrence but can happen on battery change. Is there anything else not working, such as AC?, heater blower?, and maybe more. I don't think an 04 reg car has the need to "code" a battery to the car.

Tony.

Hi Tony and Gookah,,

I just can't re-set the clock. All else works. It sounds like I really don't have a problem. I think I will just forgedaboudit.

Thanks a bunch. I always appreciate you guys for all the help you have given me.:thumbsup:
