The old one had a bit more give which I needed as the aluminium was binding due to the corrosion. The new spring is exactly the same size as the old though. I’d also just spent an hour cleaning it up and spraying it so bugger if I wasn’t going to use it
Threaded rod is M6 or 8 I think..a long bolt would do it as long as it goes through the middle of the pin
As rain stopped play thought I’d do some preventative maintenance on my nearside mirror as it’s never folded in. Managed to crack the glass getting it off ☹. Removing the covers revealed a lot of corrosion on the ear. Not seen that much white powder since the early 90s! . I think the plan is to take it all apart rub it back, etch primer and paint it.
