Hi,

I'm looking to replace the bonnet hinge foils - the self adhesive clear plastic sheets that sit behind the bonnet hinges. They are missing from my car and are still available from BMW for a few quid, so thought I would put them back. I know roughly they go, but I am not 100% sure where they exactly fit. Would someone be willing to take a picture of these so I can see exactly where they go? My car is a year 2000 facelift. Thanks for any help.

These are the scabby old ones:

And what it looks like with the new BMW ones:

You’re lucky you don’t have to remove the old ones - mine came off in 100s of tiny pieces.

Some PPF not do the same thing ?
The BMW foil material is thicker than normal PPF - the rubber bonnet stops can put quite a bit of force on it. Also, the shape is … unique - I’m not really sure why it covers the area that it does but there’s undoubtedly a good reason.
At the price, just a few £’s, there’s no good reason not to get the right shaped, correct material from a trusted source, rather than try to MacGyver your own IMO.
