Just ordered the module and the stalk for my M54 Z3. They're both coming from the US, but soon I'll have cruise in Beep*. It's a must have these days for long journeys that involve speed cameras and average speed zones.

*He got this name shortly after purchase. The alarm was constantly going off like a new puppy barking. It turned out to be a bad bonnet switch... :)

... You will not regret it.
Agreed, I did mine a year ago. The hardest part was removing the trim but even so it was only a 15 min job. Good luck.

Mine came with this fitted and as said a great help in average camera zones and long journeys

I'm almost there accumulating the parts for my 97 but if I recall @Mint there was a change from 98 up! Do you still have a list of parts needed or anyone else? Thanks , JIM

Yes, Jim. The older M52 based system uses a bowden cable and other gubbins. The beauty of the M54 is it is just an extra computer module and the stalk.

Jim, on my 2002 M54 it was only the stalk and the electronics required. Plug&Play

I know there is a change over point which eliminated a pile of pArts from the system. Just wondering at what point it changed as I need CC due to a right knee that needs replacing and about 98% of my driving here is hiway. If I take any more morphine I shouldn't be driving. Thanks everyone! JIM

Is that the same for posting?..............(Uh Oh.........)

The control unit turned up today. Great service from the vendor. The stalk is stuck in customs awaiting payment, but I have to wait till I get the notification of the amount, which I believe is by post.

Screw you, HMRC! :P

I didn't have that issue.

Tony.

Yeah, I think it's hit and miss. They got a hit.

Best thing I fitted, means you can rest your leg on a long run.
Just remember it's just below the wind screen wash, on a few occasions, went to slow the speed down and put the screen wash on.
This is not a problem with the roof up.

Just got the stalk component this morning. In absolutely perfect condition visually. I've been very pleased with this exercise, being the first time I've sourced car parts from the U.S. IT seems that Z3 parts are more common there than Europe, which is odd. Yes I do know they were built there, before anyone mentions it!

I was expecting it on Tuesday, as Saturday delivery was an extra £12(!), but the postie said he saw it there and was doing he round in the postcode so he took it along. What great service! So rare these days. I thanked him prefusely.

Guess what I'm doing on Monday... :)

Great mod… I don't think I'd be able to wait till Monday, get it done today it's an easy job. Then you can go out and test it on Monday… all day. ;)

I'll second that

Hi everybody, hope you are all well. I am also keen to fit cruise but I am also in ignorance
As to if mine is plug and play or not. I think it might be. My Z was built in June 2000 and is a 2.0. I would appreciate any guidance.

Cheers Folks

Jim

If I remember correctly you do have P&P! It's just the earlier models up to 98 that require all the extra pieces. I need to confirm this for my 98' though! So anyone with more knowledge please fill in the gaps! JIM
