Hi all,

I am trying to remove the door lock from my z, as it could do with replacement
I have taken the door card and moisture guard off, however...

How do you get the lock out? Any tips from people who have done it before would be much appreciated, I am trying not to remove bits of the window mechanism

Thanks Chris

There'a a grommet in the end of the door above the lock (and the bolts that secure the lock) which can be removed to give access (using a long flat blade screwdriver) to a sliding plate that secures the handle. Once the rod between the handle and lock has been removed; the lock can be jiggled (mechanic's term) out.
The lock barrel on the driver's door is secured by a threaded ring.

As above - push the anodised plate forwards and the plastic trim will drop out.

For the actual latch you need to remove the steel guard plate. There is a 10 mm bolt at the base of the door and maybe another up top (I forget) but with it removed the plate can be jiggled out. Disconnect the lock rod, three Torx screws and it can be removed. A bit fiddly but not tragic.
