Flush and oil change

I had a spare hour this afternoon as work had slowed a little so asked if I could change my oil and filter. I put the Forte flush in last night and ran it to work this morning.

While the oil was draining, instead of hiding behind a cupboard and toolbox I decided to sweep the floor under this ramp and the one next to it. Look at the floor under the car, bloody disgusting.

I swept up over half a barrow load of crap.

Anyway the motor sounds better for it, it's a very good product. I will probably have a few bottles at ZedFest so if you would like one let me know.

Always flush ours and change the oil every 12 months whatever the milage cheap maintenance and it's something you can do easily Sarah's gets a set of plugs as well not quite so often on the m £10 a pop

Good work Tony. Out of pure curiosity how many litres does it take being that it's a 3.0l monster?

I've changed my engine oil 3 times in the past 6 months. Not because I'm ocd about maintenance but because of all the issues I've had with the rough idle. The rough idle is almost non existent. It seems to be that when ever the oil gets low, i.e halfway between the min and max on the dipstick the rough idle is more obvious, which happens too quickly. Need to determine the cause of the leak. Suspect its the sump pan gasket.

I might buy a bottle of forte engine flush from you, heard good stuff from other sources, especially about their fuel treatment apparently. How much are they paying you?

Sounds as if you already knew you were going to get a spare hour to do an oil and filter change by already putting a flush in last night

Not really mate, but I was expecting a down turn soon and the Forte product you can run for some time before draining as it has very good lubricating properties. Today was the day

Their Rep. is usually quite generous with product for our own use to be honest Faheem, but they are very good anyhow. I'll have some Petrol and Diesel fuel treatments as well, like last year.

Their Rep. told me that 3 years ago when I had my Z3 mate, I used it for 2 days before draining it and when I refilled the oil I also added some Wynn's Hydraulic Valve Lifter Concentrate for good measure and the motor ran quiet as a mouse after that.

It has little or no lubricating properties Steve and as you say a quite aggressive action. When we flush Diesels at work, when they're in for Test and service, we put the flush in the engine before warming the oil to do the smoke test.

No mate, it just kills two birds with one stone is all. IF you test cars properly, you SHOULD get Diesels up to 80 deg.C before doing a smoke test, and if it needs servicing after the test the oil is already hot enough to drain.
The problem we have at work is 2 ex Halfords clowns who put a car on a ramp and fanny around looking for Add-on work before evening draining the oil. Me, I'm old school, drain the oil while it's hot, and while it's draining do something else (sweep floor!) or lower ramp and remove wheels, check brakes etc. But I'm just old fashioned ....................

Old school is best in my experience anyway mate. As someone said on here recently "old is gold" .

Well I feel quite sure that if we held a pole on who we'd rather have working on our cars,the choice being the ex Halfords boys or you,the scales would tip heavily in your favour .
