Gearbox and Differential Oils 1999 2.8 manual

Looking to change gearbox and differential oil to help smooth shift at cold.
BMW state 75W 80 gearbox. 75W 140 differential
Oils changed by previous owner 11 years and circa 20 K miles ago.
Looking at previous posts and some going back several years ago and noticed some Castrol products have been replaced.
Anyone thoughts on suitable current premium oils that stand out from the crowd for smoother changes,and have experienced great results.

I have a 2.8 as well with the 5 speed and I recently changed my fluid with redline mt-85 its a good balance between mt-90 and D4 which are some of the more common replacements and Ive had no issues, it goes in and out of gear smoothly. Additionally I used redline 75w90 for my diff and again had pleasing results.

Thanks for the advice,noticed recently Opie don’t have D4 so I’ll have a look at suggestions

I used redline D4 (gearbox) and 75w-140 for torsen LSD
