As the subject says. And is it worth it.

I have m543.0 intake manifold and intake cam on the 2.8 already.is the extra 200cc worth the effort and cost?

Sounds like a lot of money to me. You can pick up a used 3.0 cheap enough as they were used in everything.

I think that the additional 200 cc by itself makes little difference - the key changes are the inlet manifold, inlet camshaft, and the cylinder head - which has larger inlet valves. a good cylinder head improvement job would probably bring your 2.8 close to a 3 litre, if not beyond, but it is difficult to find anyone in the UK to do such work. All that most BMW owners want are shiny bits of aluminium trim and fake wood, whereas the Germans actually drive their cars quickly, so perhaps you should look there for a suitable company. One man at Alpina does a six cylinder head in a day, so prices should not be exhorbitant.

Sorry Mike but the 2,8 tu and the m5430 share a cylinder head part number. The differences are in the intake manifold and intake camshaft which has more duration and lift than the 2.8. Factory exhaust cams are identical.

My tu has the 3.0 intake manifold and a set of cat cams although to be honest the difference between the cat cams and just swapping jn the 3.0 intake cam which is where I started is not really noticeable from the seat of thd pants. At least at altitude. Oh it also has 3.0 injectors and a custom tune.

It loves to rev now and spins effortlessly to 6800 which is kind of my safe limit. I just want a little more power.

The mods have definitely moved the torque up in the rev range but previously it ran out of breath at 5500 or so because the tu was designed to haul 5 and 7 series around and thd design prioritized low rev cylinder fill for torque over top end. power

Hi i would agree with @Delk sounds like extra money and work for very little gain in real terms over the mods carried out to your 2.8tu unless your plan is to start to gain more power from the 3.0.
Stephen.
