Not much luck finding OEM rear window....

So, I decided that my best option is to just replace the rear window (see my other thread about window trim coming off).

I've found places that say they have them, but I'm failing to successfully order. I tried two places in different locations, whose websites are eerily similar, and both ended the same way. Order processes, I get a confirmation, then a little while later I get an email saying the order has been cancelled because they don't ship glass or body panel parts.

In both places, the rear window is listed in a category named glass, even though the window, of course, is not glass.

I tried calling both places with no answer. Neither charged my card.

So, now I'm looking for somewhere to get the window and every place I can find has the exact same web interface (and part under category glass) or they have the part backordered unti next fall.

Any suggestions?

I have one in the loft. I think it has the shadow, but it definitely wont have the zip pull, as that is a throw-away item.

If you are interested, I can take photos.

Zip pulls seem to be a non-standard size too. Saw somebody on bay selling them for silly money.

I would be using several loops of dental floss through the zip and some paracord through the dental floss.

Forget it, there is no tool there at all. I thought it were just the tab the broke off. It would appear that it's the whole tool.

The sticky backing will need some new tape...

Forget the comment about the zipper and the floss. You need a new zipper tool, as there is nothing there to pull the two zips together.

It looks like they are £10.99 in eBay.

I'll let you know. The local dealership is trying to get one for me. They said 3-5 business days last Wednesday.....

Dealership called yesterday....rear window is in. The strange part is he kept calling it glass and wanted to know if I needed it installed and that they have some glass experts that they use to do that type of work.

I had to ask 3 times: "OK, this is for a convertible top. It's part number nnnnn, it's not supposed to be glass. Is this glass or is it vinyl?" Finally he opened the box and confirmed it's the right part. No wonder the online places wouldn't ship, apparently the box makes it look like it's glass.

Anyway, he says they have a guy who's installed them before, so I'm going to talk to him today to look into having them install. I'll probably have them fix the airbag light while they're at it.
