Raised limiter reverting to factory limiter

Hello all,

I've got a 1998 m44 Z3 (OBD1). At the start of the year I had the ECU Mapped (I would assume its a generic flash map. Send the ECU off, ECU returns with changes). Part of the map is that the cars rev limiter is raised to ~7200 RPM, with ignition cut.

Recently, the car seems to have reverted back to the factory ~6500 RPM soft limiter when in gear (IE under load) but will give me the full ~7200 RPM with ignition cut when the clutch is depressed.

Anyone have any ideas why? TIA

Hello Tia,

Get back to the people that did the remap for you, and explain the symptoms.

Not Tia; Jonny. TIA: Thanks In Advance (Did make me chuckle though😂)

I've messaged them, and had no response. Its now been further reduced to hitting soft limiter at 5k, which is where I believe the limp mode limiter is.

Thinking about it, I did clean the engine bay shortly before this, so I recon I've either damaged or soaked a sensor. Never had that issue beforehand. Will atleast try to dry the easily accessible sensors out on Monday.

Have you gof a code reader.
If so do a scan see if anything is hiding but not putting on warning lamps.

Stephen.

Sorry. I don't know the answer. But I'm curious. I have a standard M44 and if I want to give it some beans I find that over 5500 rpm, nearing 6 it's over the power curve and changing up a gear is better than holdiing the gear.

So your remap. Did it do anything to change the power curve benefitting from the higher RPM?

As I said, I'm just curious about what options are available if ever I decide to go looking for more poke.
