put the z3 up for sale but could not get a fair price for it so made my mind up i would store it and do the small jobs that needed doing as a hobby , and when i had my fun with the z4 put it back on the road ( not sure when that would be the z4 is amazing ) then out of the blue my son-in-law said he would like to buy it, he as a mx5 at the moment, and as far as speed and handling goes the z3 as no chance, but the z3 is a better car and he knew that, certainly my z3 any way back to the story, the z3 interior light would not work on the drivers side when the door opened, not something that bothered me but thought i would put it right, got another door switch fitted it a lot easy than i thought, light worked alarm light know came on and the petrol cap locked and unlocked, all of that door switch 3 easy jobs all done at once
next job was the heater knob that controls the hot and cold center one did not feel it was connected to anything so investigate that, undone side panel all cables connected all working but arm that connects to the knob was not moving, so no choice but to remove the heater panel, took radio out looked at how it was connected and you can take the arm of with out removing the heater panel it is connected to the next control it was a simple job of disconnect the cable pull both arms of the heater unit them slide the arm i needed of all in with the heater sill in place, what had happened was the small plastic pin that fits into the heater knob had broken, i just drilled the arm replaced the broken pin with a alloy pin the same dia refitted it all and job done, good for another 15 years
all this and i only spent about 3 hours on it, also had the car checked for errors on the obc and it only came up with a rear sensor that i replaced when i did the rear springs and it had not been reset, not bad for a 15 year old car so i now know he is getting a well sorted car, ( and of course they got it at bank of dad rates,
)
