Tie rod removal

They do work very well. But you don't need one if you have a pair of stilsons or some large grips.
If you remove the gaiter clips and pull the gaiter out towards the track rod end, then turn the steering into full lock you should be able to access the inner rack end joint with the stilsons. They are right hand thread!!! Slacken but don't remove the joint from ypththe end of the rack yet, then strip the outer track rod end joint and slide the gaiter off the track rod. If the gaiters are suspect, now is the time to replace them!
