I've been meaning to ask this question on the forum for a while now but I keep forgetting. With my Z3 I got 4 keys, 1 master, 1 spare, 1 for the wind deflector and another one, to this day I have no idea what this other key does.

Has anyone seen a key like this for the zed or any zed accessories?

Got the car from a trader so he probably wouldn't have known either.

Not sure Faheem but it could be for isolating the alarm siren maybe?

Tony.

Initially guess - Am probably wrong but my first thought was - Nothing to do with the car whatsoever. Looks like a desk or cupboard key to me. Probably escaped accidentally with the car keys....
Might be the alarm siren key but would be surprised to see such a key for that.

@t-tony the factory bmw alarm system was removed at some stage and a cobra alarm was fitted in its place. However the cobra alarm doesnt allow you to isolate the alarm (from what I've seen)

@Redline you are probably right because it doesn't fit in anything I own lol. It's just one of those annoying things that I've really got to know the answer to.

I also think it could be the alarm key
Used to see keys of that type regularly on cars of this era Steve, not so many these days.

Could there have been a locking petrol cap on the car in the past?

@Faheem. If it does turn out to be the alarm siren key and you don't need it I'd be interested in taking it off your hands. I have a siren in mine that can be isolated but don't have the key. So when the alarm goes off just the lights flash without sound!

So I have no use for it seeing as the car doesn't have the BMW Alarm Siren fitted :) But thanks, mystery solved.

In saying that mine does look slightly different when checking.

As mentioned maybe old petrol cap met.
Mine only has a 3 digit number on key.

I've got one like that @Tracy Dee but that key is for my wind deflector.

@cheeseandbeans Sure you can but it'll be when I get my Project Z back (they have the keys on the key-ring I gave them).
