Can someone tell me if there is a a to z steps to replacing the rear crossmember bushes on the net to see how they are done?

If you follow Lee's thread on fuel tank rattle that shows how to get the x-member off. He is replacing the bushes too.

Yes once you have followed lee's how to, you then need a special tool to remove the bushes, you can make this tool, or you can burn them out, I would suggest making the tool, piece of pipe, pipe cap, all thread and some nuts and washers.

Do you mean the big bushings for the differential carrier, also called the rear subframe? If so, I can post up a lot.

Had a look at your video Stevie, it looks as if the whole bush is moving up and down the fixing bolt, and the bush is in tact. If you look in Lee's How too the nut and bolt on the bottom of the fixing are a lot higher up than yours. Will the big nut at the bottom tighten any further? (77Nm) To do this you may have to loosen off the two 6mm allenkey bolts so that the bottom bracket will move.

Here's the bushing that most people here buy -- a relatively soft urethane:

The rigidity of the urethane is said to take movement and stress off the differential mounting bushing, which in turn takes stress off the trunk floor channel where popped welds frequently occur. The more solid bushing is also said to improve handling.
