Z3m alloys on a face lift 2.0

Looking at the pics above the heavy stretch was needed because the car is so low.
If you don't go so low you could probably still run a wider tyre (came with 245).
The lower you go the more camber changes so the top of the wheel goes into the arch but there is a balance you can fine between the height and running tyres not heavily stretched.

I run 9,5j wide rears with an offset of ET 45 plus a 13mm spacer and 255/35.
I don't know if that info will help you compare with the M wheels via the calculator.
The tread pattern is within the arch and there no rubbing or arch modification.
The car is lower but not like the black one above. It's still very drivable and no grounding out.

Lowering is crucial to get the wheels inward as you can see above!

Unless you going for the dragster look in that case jack up the rear and fit some ballon tyres and let rip at Santa Pod!
