I've just got some 17" wheels for refurbing and they came with one nearly new Pirelli P6000 for the front and one worn out tyre so do I get another P6000 or a pair of another brand. What are peoples experience of Pirelli tyres on the front of a Z3 please.

I was always wary of the P6000's nick name of "ditch finders". Seriously, google 'Pirelli ditch finders' and you will get plenty of feedback on them.

I've had them on various FWD company cars in the past, and for that reason I wouldn't personally ever buy them again. They were however the only tyres that kept my Astra 2.0 Sport estate out of hedges, fields and other landscape. Granted I could only get 6k miles out of them, but I never paid for them...

Had them on my Z3 when I first bought it, on a run out over with Zorg members over the Evo, one of the members commented it looked like a slippery eel, he was right, Car was loosing grip on every corner. Ditch them and get some decent tyres.

guys, you always need to look at the conditions the tyres are made for.
Pirelli's are italian...most of them made for warmer conditions.
They are not the best tyres for rainy or wet conditions.

It all depends on when you use the Z the most.

If you only use it on sunny, warm days, Pirelli's will be perfect.
Now in winter with more wet then dry days, Pirelli's are not the best option.

I have had them on my Merc's. Stick to the road like glue I found but I did not get more than six months use out of them. Expensive hobby.

I always found them really grippy till I got through the first 3mm or so of tread. Then the last few mm's the rubber was hard as hell and lost all the grip.

Thanks for the advice all. Car is usually used on dry days all year so try and avoid the rain and salt. I have always been a bit dubious of Pirelli after exploits many years ago with the original Cinturato's. I will see what I can get in the short term and look to get a pair later probably Falkens or Avon.
Got to get the wheels refurbed first.

The only grip related SVA I have ever had was on Pirelli P Zeros... I swapped them (car was Impreza Turbo) for Goodyear Eagle F1 and the scales fell from my eyes.

The Z3 has Continental, these are pretty good, predictable. The M3 has Michelin PSS. One of the best tyres IMHO. The 120d has Bridgestone run flats, and they are, we'll, run flats. Need I say more about RF? :D
