2000 Y plate Z3 2.2 non start.

As above. A mate has had this for a year or two. It has always started but yesterday, it didn't. It has the big old style three button key. The hazards flash but no crank. Any ideas? Sounds like an EWS issue to me.

Do the dash lights all come on with the ignition?
When he goes to start it do any lights stay on, or does it shut everything down?
Does the solenoid 'click'?

Update: There is sometimes a click from the starter, and the central locking has stopped working. The passenger door is deadlocked. Does this sound like a failed body control module? I've got a few here and possibly one I can send matey but getting the glovebox out with the passenger door shut is going to be interesting.

I would start with the battery TBH.
