Event 30th September 2018 - The South Downs Annual Run.

Ok folks.. Those travelling to the day via the M27 past Southampton. The M27 will be on a weekend closure, M271 --> Southampton Airport and up to the M3. The area will be gridlocked. So I would consider an alternative route possibly via the A303 if you can to avoid Southampton area completely. Its closed from Friday evening to Monday morning. The first of three weekend shut downs. The joys.

By the look of it due to hotels and issues in getting good parking, they will be staying at the PI in Farnborough. There is also a Travelodge just around the corner from the BMW HQ for the Sunday start if people are looking for hotels. Usual Saturday night meal will be in a local premises for those wishing to join, please can you let me know too. Its a lot of work doing a full weekend but I think this will be worth it.

Hello @Peimli DO you require a normal breakfast roll or veggie option. As I need to update the list for BMW. I will also need you to send £5 over on PayPal to cover the parking inside the track at Goodwood. Please see the main first post for updates.

Yes its that time again. The Annual South Downs run from BMW HQ. Looking at finishing at Goodwood Motor Circuit. Although with events taking place, I can not guarantee that we will be on the finishing line for photographs.


This year will be run in conjunction with some of our Dutch friends ( @DutchScorpion is organising a group ) coming over to join us. I am organizing a run for them on the Saturday around the New Forest and Dorset Countryside. The Saturday is due to limitation of parking in rural Dorset invite only. I can only do my magic on limited days.


So the plan is to meet at BMW HQ at 09.30 on the Sunday, for the usual breakfast and chat, leaving in groups to tour the lovely South Downs. A stop at the transport café, and then a lovely run back along the South Downs to Goodwood. Parking at Goodwood will again need to be paid for in advance so that I can get us on the inner part of the circuit. Once I have an idea of numbers is what area I need to book and I will have an idea of cost. It should be around the same as last year I hope.


I will need some volunteers to lead groups as per last year. It’s a simple route and easy to follow. Once the exact route is signed off I will post it up on myroute for people to download to the relevant Sat Nav so we all have the information to hand.


This has been a good event over the last few years and I hope to add a little extra if I can organize it. Well it would not be the good if I told you all the goodies at once would it.


Groups will be limited to 7/8 Cars. So Leaders please step forward.

@Scott Maynard DO you require breakfast at BMW for one or two ? Also you need to forward £5 on PayPal for the car parking inside the track at Goodwood. I will PM you the details.
 
Will be needing a few more to lead a group. Its easy to follow with a file on your sat nav. Those who have been on mar runs will appreciate that without the help of others it just does not work. Bigger groups are harder to control and keep in check.

Basically you follow the route and keep an eye on the small group behind you. if you get split up you slow down and look for a safe area to pull to one side. Once the back marker, who has his lights on gives the thumbs up you all move off. It works.. we have tried it over countless runs.

So who wishes to be brave and step forward.
 
I am interested, and am awaiting a response from my proposed navigator.

Any plus 1 and food requirements regarding Veggie etc ?
 
Hi didn't realize there would be a veggie option for breakie. If poss Please can you change the wife's to veggie she would appreciate something other than toast to eat. Thanks.
