Those 'two' 507s. They look like the exact same car in the exact same position photoshopped with different colors. The background in both pictures is the same and the wheels are even turned at the exact same angle.

So, basically, it's a scam.
 
Was always under the impression scams were usually too good to be true?
Either way at those prices you’d have to be some kind of stupid.
 
250 California kits finished to a good standard normally sell for around £85k and a fair few have been sold at this price.
They have a lot of polished stainless steel trim inc bumpers, full interiors with replica Veglia instrument. This isn't cheap to buy which is why they command such high prices.
I think £40k for a well sorted 507 with full interior and stainless trim to be a bit of a bargain, knock £10k off if its chromed GRP trim.
Donor, kit, interior trim, clocks, wheels & tyres, exhaust and a lot of labour, it's not rocket science to work out a resale price with a bit of profit. You also need the skill set to be able to build it, can't think of any company that would build it leaving any profit and getting someone to build it properly for you is an almost impossible task.



It does look as if he does have 2 cars, both on almost standard interiors and painted GRP bumper. Nice bonnet gaps, I wonder who built them. Fit and finish looks to be excellent.

Not sure who built these. Look good from a distance. Lot of money though. Even given build costs.

Have put feelers out to get more info.

Trouble is that with the internet we are all so sceptical and don't wan't to be caught out. It is also goo that forum members try to look out for one another.

By the way, I have a goose that lays golden eggs, can I invest anyone in it, very cheap.

Pop you car into a decent body shop and ask them to quote for a similar quality fettling, gaping and paint job on yours. I'm not being rude but I would expect a quote of around 6>8K, add that to all your hard work, donor and kit cost.
I think it is good that somebody can put all that time money and effort in and still make a profit.

Oh I get it Steve. And realise the difference between the Kobra and 250/DNA/507 type builds. I could spend a lot of money on mine (and did in the end) but.it.doesn't carry the kudos and popularity of those models. Which brings more profit if they are done well.

It's just back to my statement " it's a lot of money". Not saying they are not worth it to the creator and buyer. Just my tightness showing through. We are on the same page.

I liked the seats that they have chosen too.

Look less z3 enough. I have stock seats in mine still. One thing I meant to change but ran out of enthusiasm and time for.
 
Both cars are real as saw them when they came out of the moulds.
the blue car was finished back in August but I was not allowed to talk or post photos as the owner wanted it kept under wraps.
I have been waiting for it to go up for sale to see where the price was pitched.
having the first built car on the road, it was of great interest to me.
As with all of us who build cars, I think there are some great details on these two, but some howlers too. (Bonnet hinges)
Hopefully these sell quickly, and I need to increase my agreed value insurance now 😁😁

I wouldn't get too excited. Even if the dealer is selling them on commission "on behalf of the owners", they will be wanting £5-10k, so they can reduce them when they don't sell. It's the way it is in the car trade these days unfortunately.

Gotta love the clever (?) marketing of offering them at £39,507.00. Never met a bright car dealer TBH. :)
 
If you can afford £39k, you can afford the to run a Bentley Continental, built by true craftsmen, for a short while - or would you still choose the "507", built by a man in a shed, and run it for a long while?

An intriguing conundrum.

The "507" wouldn't be out of place on my driveway, and would get the same "what is it?" questions my "275" gets. The Bentley would not get the same type of "interest", and probably would need an armed guard.

Seems fairly bright to me making 5 to 10 K off the back of someone else’s hard work……….

The Bentley would just get walked past and ignored, whilst my 507 has been the start point for many enthusiastic conversations. And ‘shed’ built cars can have the same quality and passion applied to them as factory built ones. 😁
 
Additional notes.
the yellow car is not showing the correct reg number, according toDVLA.

the blue car is still registered as a Z3, and colour Black on the DVLA database.
When changing the body style Dvla ask for before and after photos, something a new owner probably won’t be able to obtain. A can of worms could await a future buyer!
