I had 3 tasks to do today. By 7pm, I've accomplished: 1 succesfully; another semi-succesfully; and the other I've just opened a can of worms.
The task I managed to accomplish was fitting the Thayer Motorsports seat pitch adjustment, as seen in @5harp3y's project thread (thanks for posting the order of the washers too, great help!) It does make a world of difference, keeping you firmly in your seat around the corners. But being 6', it does put my thighs/knees closer to the wheel making tight manoeuvring a bit more difficult. All in all a great little mod, well worth the ±£20 for both sides.
The task that I semi-succesfully completed, was the seat bush swap. Managed to get both the seats done. Yes, the sanding does take a long time, but after using some 80 grit sandpaper, they soon wore away and the results now speak for themselves. However, having bolted the seats back in on their new, taller front mounts, I found the passenger side motor sluggish in comparison to the drivers. I felt as though I was willing it to the finish line every time I moved it forward/backward. So I'm thinking I may have done something to one of the motor drives when refitting the 'kebabs'. But that's for another day, if ever...
The can of worms is not strictly a can of worms, as I kind of knew what the problem was anyhow. The drivers side heated seat element isn't working. I was hoping the error would be in the car i.e. dodgy switch, but when putting the seats back in, I swapped them around and testing. The passenger seat, now on the drivers side, still came warm whilst the drivers seat failed to do so. So now I know that the problem lies within the seat itself, I'll have the seat out again in the near future (before it gets too cold!) to diagnose the fault, probably with the aid of @gookah 's thread on repairing seat element on M-sports seats (thanks for that!).
So that was how I spent my day. Glad I made progress, bummed that it's never as simple as it seems. Just thought I'd share, as I like to read what other people have been up to with their Zed's!
Forsh
Edit: Forgot to mention - I'd hid my keys so I couldn't turn the ignition on, but when putting the seats in to test the elements, I didn't plug one in correctly. So now I have the dreaded airbag light. If anybody is local to Warrington, Lancaster, or anywhere in the northwest, and willing to lend it to me, I'd be very grateful.
