Afternoon all, just want to double check something, plugged the car into the computer and got the following 3 faults on the ABS

41- speed signal, rear right (electrical fault)
and
42- speed signal, rear right (continuity)
98- ASC button

i want to just double check, is this the abs sensor rear right? or is it something else?

also what could be the fault with the ASC button? there is a button there lol.

any info much appreciated as always

Thanks

Hello,
Are you actually investigating an ABS/ASC fault or just checking? These codes could be historical and relate to a previous problem but have never been cleared.
If you don't have warning light on the instrument cluster lit, I would suggest you make a note of the codes, reset them, drive the car and then check again to see if any have re-appeared.
If you depress the ASC button the yellow warning symbol on the cluster should illuminate (may vary with model year)

Hi @jonco I'm investigating faults with the car at the moment. When I got the car no lights but then when I took the instrument cluster out I found out the bulbs had been taken out so ever since iv had a ABS light on constantly. So bought a scanner and that's the codes I got today from it. When I push the asc button no lights appear

Hi Derek,

Change the speed sensors out, it says rear right, but I would do both for peace of mind.

Hi @jonco ............................When I push the asc button no lights appear

Ok - I vaguely recall your previous thread now. Does the ASC light illuminate on the start-up test when you turn the ignition on or is the bulb out of that one as well?

The light is permanently on, it's the reason nothing happens when you press the switch. Just needs new sensors.

There is no ASC light on the dash even tho I put a bulb in. Will be getting sensors soon to replace the broken ones and see what happens

Hi Derek, just done this job this afternoon, used GSF, they always have a discount code, and it was 40% last weekend, tight fit to get the sensor in and out, cleared codes , lights stayed on at first but after a drive and restart went off.

Brilliant @simonlincs ill check then out. Job won't be getting dome for a few weeks anyway so plenty time

Hopefully get this resolved this weekend. How do I find the exact part number I need? A few sites iv looked on have 2 different sensors for the rear?? I have a 1.9 2002 z3 and need a rear right abs sensor can anyone help?
Again sorry for complete noob questions

http://bmwfans.info and enter the last 7 digits of your vin number. You then need to locate the sensor and it will show you the PN. Alternatively you could call Sopers BMW parts, and they will find it for you. Might give you a decent price as well...

The saga continues. Just pulled out the old sensor and it's a different end to the new one I got. Will the new one work before I fit it or does it have to be the square end?

Magic didn't wanna try forcing it if it wouldn't work. Ur old one look square and new one look round?

Needed to take mine for a reasonable drive to extinguish lights, even when codes clear, good job

@bertiejaffa I eventually got one from my local parts dealer. Livingston auto parts just down the road from me
