no you dont need the old module, the coding for the old module is stored in the example - EWS. the coding for all of the modules in kept on two of the modules on the car, this allows BMW to swap every module without loosing the original code.Finally got round to installing my inpa ncsexpert etc so will read any error codes tomorrow. With regards to coding the new abs module is this the process @littlefeller ?

Do I need anything from the old abs module or does it just write the ecu's data onto the one I've replaced it with? Thanks

You are plugging into the pacman under the bonnet and not under the dash? iI you have a facelift car.
My be worth trying to re-solder the joints Daz, that's where the trouble usually occurs I beleive.
