Air Con button gets hot

i have noticed that I he air con button gets hot when switched on in my Z3 3.0 litre is this normal?, also noted the air con switch is the only one that does not illuminate with the lights on?

Does not sound right to me getting hot, the button should be illuminated when turned on but I'm sure from memory that it does not illuminate when the lights are on when not in use the same as the fog lamp buttonsI have a few spare as I've bought the wrong ones for mine if yours proves to be buggard. I'm in the IOM for a while but can sort you one out when I next visit home. Would be helpful if you can take a pic of the one you have to see if the ones I have are the same.

I was told a long time ago, that when the aircon button gets hot it's a sign that the system needs charging. Don't know if that's true or not but it might be worth getting it checked out.

Strange, but mine gets hot too, and DOES need to be recharged...

I don't think its anything too abnormal though, it lights up pretty bright.

I don't remember well but i believe it does light up regardless if the headlights are on or off (I never have the ac on at night, haha and here you're not required to have driving lights on at all times like on some places in europe)
