Hi All
I have purchased a air induction kit!! A cheap one from ebay.
I have taken the original air filter off, and found that the bottom has been cut off !!??
Is this done to improve air flow? Could it have done any harm to the engine? I have to be honest and say to my shame, i have had the car for over a year now and never noticed

There is also a pipe with nothing attached and 2 other connectors with no pipes attached.
Does anyone know what these are for?

Lastly i am assuming that the air flow sensor has to stay on the car correct?
Seems its going to be very hard to fit this "universal" kit into the car ...
And what might be a really stupid question, but there are no instructions with the kit. what way should it go on? ie what way should the filter be pointing??

That big hole would increase air flow for sure, but none of that extra air is being filtered so could have dragged anything in to the engine...

After all this time I'd think anything that may have been sucked in has done it's damage if any but likely burnt up and blew out your exhaust. JIM

The cut out bit is before the filter so don't worry ;)

and yea them pipes should be somewhere ;)

When do you go into production @Rha Roy?? Might be a start of a big thing with sales in the millions of pounds per annum!! And your wife won't get suspicious until her waste bin shrinks down!! lol JIM

They look like breathers than should be connected or terminated

Yes!

This way towards the front
None, it's before the filter, it will have been done as a rudimentary way to increase induction noise / power

Your last picture is the front of the filter, attach the other end to the MAF
