As I am having to convert a rhd car for european driving I have bought a pair of Angel Eye headlights at a fraction of the cost of original BMW lights. However.....

When I have come to fit them I have got a few extra wires which I need help with. There are two pairs of red and black for the "angel" lights - where is the recommended place to connect these to?

Simple I know; but I also have a pair of black and white cables with a BMW plug attached for connection to something but I did not have this on the original lights and I cannot see anywhere on the car to connect them to. I would post pictures but the media button wants a URL which is not possible as they are on my desktop!!

I believe that a lot of people connect the outer 'halo' light to the side lights so that they come on at the same time. I assume this is what you are referring too ?

Hi
Yes I thought that but just wanted to be sure. As for the other black/white wires do you know if they are for units that have the sidelights in the main unit so won't need connecting?

I am not sure what replacement lights you have purchased, all I can remember is that the additional 'spare' wires needed to go to the side lights so that they all came on at the same time. Good luck.. I am sure a few others will be able to shed more light on it too.

The plug may be for the original headlamp beam adjusters ? The motors are on the rears of the orignals and maybe not an option on the aftermarket lights.

I think I have figured it out. The halo wires can be joined to the sidelights (red and black). I also have an "extra" black and white cable in the unit which is also for a sidelight so if I join those to the red and black halo wires and then to the sidelights i have in the bumper I will have halo lights and 2 sidelights each side. Hopefully that will be okay for the French MOT!!!

The extra loom is for a small side light in the main lights usually unless it's for the auto adjuster if fitted.

I've just fitted mine and set them up for lhd drive use.

Still waiting for the correct indicator loom and connectors as they sent me clear bulbs and three wire indicators

Forgot to say they look modern and in keeping with the car and dish out plenty of light without going to hid style light upgrades

Do you gentlemen have any pictures or manufacturer information on the lights you have installed that you can share?
Thank you!

I have the three wire indicators but they work as "normal" so any idea why there is three wires? I have clear indicators but will just change to an orange bulb. I've wired in the halo bulbs to the extra side light and then connected everything to the existing bumper sidelights.

When you set up for LHD use did it just involve getting the height/left/right adjustment correct? Do you know what height etc they are supposed to be? Here in the south of France cars come without indicators, headlights are either off or on full beam permanently and there is no need for mirrors or being taught how to use roundabouts!

Yeo the three wires allow USA cars to round daytime lights .you cannot get twin contact orange bulbs with single filament or similar to fit the bulb holder .

The new plug has three pins your car wiring has two hence why they work fine.

Adjusted height and angle to suit EU spec
