When I took my centre console out I found it just hanging loose, it looks like some type of switch, the metal part clicks back when you press it.
It is on the drivers side and I have tucked it behind the side panel

No you've got me there Sean.
Might it be a connection for a OBC just a guess

If there's a part number on it you could check in the OEM

Tony.

How many wires are there going into it?
If I recall correct the OBC plug has quite a few wires. The OBC connector is quite big with a locking clip arrangement.

Good idea to check the part number but playing Sherlock is much more fun!

It looks like the alarm switch that fits on the back of the oem head unit. Would sound the alarm if some scrote tries to take it without asking.

That's a cracking thought, but when I took out my Business Cassette player I didn't see anything like that. Would all cars have had one Gaz?

Tony.

It normally clips behind the head unit to a metal clip as Gaz said its the anti theft for the oem stereo
