You can use AGM or conventional. Most manufacturers and larger online retailers have a search function for you to find the right one for your particular engine size
 
Agreed not required for a Z3
AGM battery was designed primarily to be used with stop start systems to help with the extra abuse played on the battery with the exra starts but on a lot of these equipped vehicles the battery is part of a system which can include battery monitor systems, variable rate or high charge alternator that can run sometimes over 15v so these types of car need correct type of battery wgen replaced or problems will soon return .

You don't "need" an AGM, but it can be a good idea if you don't use your car regularly. The AGM will hold its charge for much longer.
