Well.... spent most of this week (my week off) tidying the garden up, buying a family wagon and generally quite depressing crap.

Family party this weekend, so been told to tidy up, by this I guessed the back of the garden store of Z3 parts was deemed unacceptable.

So my growing collection of Z3 bumpers has been moved, however there is a point to my post!

While laying them out I noticed the distinct difference between narrow and wide body rear bumpers.

Just thought that someone on here may care?!?!?!

Atlanta Blue is 1.9 narrow body prefacelift

Silver is 2.0 wide body (prefacelift I think)

You can see the width of the bracket mount showing on the silver widebody bumper just how much wider it is.

As all Z3 rear bumpers fit any model (unless you fit a standard to an ///m (which would hit the quad exhaust on the drivers side)) the mounts have to be in exactly the same place.

Interesting but I'm more keen to hear what the family wagon is?

There is great pleasure to be had out of individual rear seat belts and adjustable seats making life easy for booster/baby seats etc, you'll see!

Then you get to shop for racks and see how many bikes you can fit, roof boxes etc, endless options!
Family buses can be fun mate (just not cleaning them, too big and too many seats to clean under so my that gets outsourced!)

I didn't think all Z3 rear bumpers did fit all cars Andy, I thought it was only the front bumpers that did this?

You've made be think now, too late for that really!

I think all rear bumpers fit, but the rear wings and some sills wouldn't meet as you'd expect. So technically no it wouldn't fit, but would go onto the mounts.

I think!

Wagon is a Renault Grand Scenic, had first issue already, our son's seat isn't isofix, the belt fits through as normal but I couldn't get decent tension on outer or middle rear seat, so he came home with me in my extended loan car (Pug 307).

Nice looking motor for a low budget 7 seater, but it is French, so wont hold my breathe!

Still looking for a, now very cheap, diesel run around, £2-3000 1 series, civic 2.2, 3 or 5 series estate or Audi equivalent, there is little chance of finding one really so I'll not be handing the keys back on the Pug for a while!

Was in my Clio 172 last week, did 3/4 of a tank of fuel in 3 days! Pug is doing 700 miles on a £70 tank! Economy comes first at the minute!

If I can be arsed, I'll test out my theory tomorrow, I'm not short on Z3 carcasses!

Ahhh, yes the mounting points must be the same but the bumper will not line up withe the rear wings etc.

Good wagon Andy, lots of nice touches for family use.
Even in the Galaxy the middle seat is an issue (belt comes from the roof) but side seats should be fine. What seat is it?

Have a look at these, I use one on my Z but could for the baby seat?

Yes all bumpers will fit, but if you don't change the rear wings then you will have a 40mm gap, I know this having done the wide body rear conversion...nice bumper collection btw...

Seriously though I had a VW Touran a few years ago, a great car, slightly pricey but retains value well.

Tony.

Cheers @t-tony we looked at the VW, but budget is really tight after a court case on one family car, then buying a £10k focus for a family of 4 then finding out we are about to be a family of 5 so losing about £2.5k on a car we just bought. Some home improvements/ alterations to make room for a growing flock too!

How is your pain threshold?:ymdevil: Ever heard of the two brick method, only hurts when you catch your thumbs in between the bricks ..... apparently.
