Hi I am new to the site and quite new to BMW Z3`s. I have a hardtop for my car but I cannot locate the mounting gauge (BMW part no:54219408881) does anyone know how to source or have this item for sale? Jacko

Welcome from Canada! I was wondering whether or not they're actually necessary? Couldn't you/we simply put a couple of 4mm,I think it is, pieces of cardboard under the top while adjustment is made? Any comments? JIM
Also, could someone confirm the size of the front HT Bolts please!

I just copied and paste from .net But i don't know if this info is correct.

You should be able to order them from a dealer under part number 54 21 9 408 881. I ordered mine about 18 months ago from Arden in Maidstone, Kent (Tel 01622 717222) and the pair cost £4.87 + VAT. There was no difficulty, they just got them in. The same went for the C-spanner for adjusting the hard top (54 21 1 972 684) but at a hefty £19.24 + VAT!

Thanks for your wishes, I used M8x20mm caphead socket screws bought easily from local hardware store. I put small "O" ring over bolt to prevent vibration. Good luck

Theres a mounting plate...????....kinda makes sense now..!!!

Thanks @DavidM now I have an exact size to search for as my nearest BMW dealer is a couple of hours away one way. I've been procrastinating because our weather has been so nice but it's starting to snow around us so only a matter of time now. Did you us the gauge when you put your top on? JIM

I made a template of both left and right gauges out of card using measurements from a photo of the originals and got plastic equivalents made. They weren't exact but enough to keep the hard top off the paintwork by at least the recommended depth while I made the finer adjustments all round. If you can get a set of original gauges do so, as they are a snug fit.
David.
