BMW vacuum exhaust baffle.

I did not have a problem with that as it was a German all singing and dancing 190E import.
Nothing on the paper work or on the stamp under the bonnet about it having a cat.

Way to go!!!!!!! HT, now where's my cheque book and copy of AutoTrader looking under Morris 1000 wide body.

Did you stick it open, or did it do that of it's own free will?
Mine did, one night I was giving it a boot full onto the roundabout and I had to shut off bloody quick and there was a loud bang from the rear and lo and behold it's been stuck open ever since.

Let us know with a vid if poss Jim.
Will do Roy but won't be for a while and the exhaust cutouts are readily available in NA in different sizes to Accomodate most pipe sizes. Very common on street rods and drag cars! No sound better than a top fuel dragster popping down the quarter mile with no mufflers just straight pipes in 4 seconds and 330+mph. JIM

On a serious note, has anyone thought that the valve is stuck open due to lack of vacum. The pipe goes to the rubber pipe goes to the fusebox (i know that sounds wrong) and then to some sort of resevoir and then to the manifold. My point is if this pipe is perished (lets face it most of our cars are getting on) would this effect running as is would be letting unmeterd air into the manifold, just a thought as my 2.0 litre in my opinion lacks low down torque when pulling away and a pig to drive in town traffic for any length of time, but sounds nice and runs perfect under normal driving conditions

Mine is an Auto and it certainly doesn't lack grunt when pulling away, maybe you have some other underlying issues?

Roy, I'll get my kid brother on the headers as he used to own a muffler and tire shop. They'll be the toughest part of the system and then there's where to run the pipes as I want to cut out the rear bumper and run ///M style tailpipes. I'm thinking of a turbo also so it needs to fit there somewhere also! Still on the drawing board stage! JIM

Go for it Jim, this turbo is it one that fits end of tailpipe. :wideyed:

No Roy it'll go somewhere just after the header collectors. It's either that or NOS but I'd prefer to use the exhaust gases I paid to make than filling bottles all the time. JIM

Personally I would rate a super charger above a turbo charger any day. More consistent power supply.

That must sound interesting, love a 5cyl but no silencers at all could be a bit much! Any video clips!

Here is a clip of a 2.8 Z3 with that bypass valve fitted but I think still uses the middle box, sounds like a mini TVR.
Turn up the volume!
