Evening All,
I recently joined the group when researching soft top replacement.
I know one or two of you showed interest in the task.
To cut a long story short, well two minutes short, I've posted a clip on 'YouTube' showing how I've spent the last couple of days.
Cheers

@Stumpy Great job.. you should have had the music .. flight of the bumble bee.. Was it an expensive hood ? Only asking as I need to get mine done later this year or early next.

Hi, I purchased the top from prestigeautotrim.com. With vat & postage it was £520, not the cheapest but original spec materials, also very good and helpful communication from sales staff. Check out their web site for all the info.
Happy Easter!

Always nice to see that things like this are within the abilities of people to do themselves rather than paying someone else

Top job. Right choice there going for the blue hood, looks much better than black. I'd go for that colour myself as my Zed's the same colour as yours.

Super wee video, well done @Stumpy :)

Nice job!!! Its great to be able to work indoors. i like the way you had everything labeled on the table. I had such a tough time screwing in the back bow. I had to take one of the seats out. What brand of calk/butyl did you use? How long did it take you to get the old stuff off the bow? Nice tape job with the protective cover on the back deck. Was it difficult to get your top up the first time? Did some one have to help you? Did you have to use a rivet gun for the two side straps on your model? Did the bow straps sprayed with adhesive and the bow covers go on well and stay there the first time around? How well did the top seal out water where it meets the door? Frankie

Good job Stumpy. Looks great

Your roof looks great @Stumpy :)
Well done :)
We will all know where to come when we needs our changing ;)

Wow Frankie, so many questions. I did everything on my own. Taking apart was quite straight forward, as you know the two end bolts on the tacking strip we're problematic and I could see no advantage in seat removal so just motored them back and forth to gain as best access as I could. When refitting the left hand one took an hour to do! Cleaning the strip maybe an hour and I used a butyl tape strip sourced for the MOD, no make name. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.
First fit was far to tight on the header and I spent a lot of time readjusting the front strip. It is still quite tight but I will live with it for a couple of weeks and may readjust later. I have also taken the uprights off to adjust the rear quarters again and not rivitted, just hard plastic straps that wrap around the uprights by the B pillar.
Seals around the window area look just as before, ten seconds to take off but a bugger to get back on. I think that's everything.
Cheers
Stumpy........

Great job...
If I ever need to change mine maybe I could pop round when you have "2 minutes" spare....

Brilliant job @Stumpy, we all know where to come when our hoods need replacing=))

Well done mate, you look to have made a hard job look easy.:)

Tony.

Best watch that video a few more times Tony. I might just have to drive to Fl and get you to install a new green top for me. JIM

Only asking as I need to get mine done later this year or early next.
@pgunter as the seat bush workshop you held last year was a great success maybe your next workshop could be a roof replacement workshop!:nailbiting: Happy to to attend that one!! instead of leaning on the shovel I would be happy help by filming it for the team:)

@Nifty Fifty We already replaced one roof @Lee I believe it was Chris's one as well as the interior seats, door cards etc in a few hours.
