My brake warning light has come on so I need to change the pads, and was also advised on last MOT (July) that all the discs would need changing soon. :(
So looking to replace discs and pads all round.

I don't drive particularly hard (although on occasion spirited), so not looking for max performance stuff, but still confused.

Have found the following:

Mtec discs and with mintex pads for £170.57
http://www.mtecbrakes.co.uk/index.p...result&search_in_description=1&keyword=z3+2.2

Pagid discs, pads and sensors for £220.38 from Euro Car Parts

EBC Ultimax Pads and EBC Standard discs for £291.72 from EBC Brake Shop

What would you recommend?
I've read good comments about the Mtec discs, but bad ones about the mintex pads they come with.
I know lots of people rate the EBC green stuff etc, but not found that many comments about the Standard discs and pads.
And Pagid I believe are straight forward OEM replacement.

Also the Mtec and EBC don't mention sensor's, would I have to purchase the sensors separate from BMW or elsewhere?

Any advise would be most welcome, thanks in advance.

John

Your prices follow the quality of each make, EBC are better than Pagid, Pagid are better than mintex.

Ultimately, its down to how much you can spend. I've always found pagid to be good solid performers and perfectly good for road use, £220 quid all in sounds good to me. I can't vouch for the EBC ultimax, I've used green stuff pads before and found them to be no better than standard pads. I can't see their bottom of the range pads/discs being any better than pagid.

got bmw standard discs and pads on my 2.2 sport and they work just fine :-bd

If you can buy BMW original parts for similar sort of money, they are definately the ones to go for ;)

EBC make great brake pads but their discs are pants which you would have thought would be best to buy together with the pads but don't !! Buy the pads and go for another quality disc.

Mintex pads are ok despite what you read it is just they generate more dust than most which people don't seem to like but if you don't drive hard like you say the I doubt you would notice.

Don't forget that Eurocarparts run a discount code that you input on the website - depending on the voucher you save 25 - 30% on your order - minimum spend of about £30.

Free delivery or collect from your local outlet.

It changes on a regular basis - it's currently NEWCP25 (25% off)

Personally I always fit Pagid wherever possible.

Tarox pads and discs on the front of mine with OEM discs and pads on the back. i can't remember how much Tarox bundle was as it was a good 5+ years ago that i fitted them and still going strong, they still amaze me at how quickly they stop.

just while the thread is here, anybody have any views on black diamond disks + pads. Been looking at upgrading my 2.8 brakes for a while and these seemed to get good reviews.

Thanks for the replies.

Have gone for Pagid all in at £166.00 with the discount code, and the local branch is only 3 mins. drive from where I work, result. :)
I was tempted to go for Pagid discs with EBC pads, but the discount from Euro Car Parts made up my mind (shame they don't stock EBC)

So big thanks to "gelertd1" for the Euro Car Parts discount code. :-bd
