Car cover recommendations

Hi all,

I've got to store one of my Z's outside for a few months.

So the questions, full cover? or half just to cover the roof?

And which make?

Don't mind paying good money if it's worth the extra.

Any downsides to having a full cover? I've heard people mention rodents making a home in the car.
 
My concern with any cover is damage to the paint work. Years ago a cover rubbed the paint off a wing (Mk I Escort) where the wind got under it. So from that perspective a half-cover would be better. This is a well regarded one but nonetheless some people still report damage to the paintwork. I bought one but have never used it as I managed to fix the leaks which is my only interest in using a cover. If it's not leaking I'd rather not risk the paint damage.

I have both types,had no problems what so ever with any type of marks to the paint work.
The full cover is a monsoon one and is tailored for the car,it has straps to help secure it. It's withstood 2 winters so far and has only faded in colour,no other wear.
The half cover is great it has strong tangs that sit inside the doors and the back of it tucks under the boot lid so once fitted can't be removed unless the doors and boot are open. I take it with us when we're away in the zed as it folds up so compact I stow it behind the passenger seat,can't think of the manufacturer name at the mo.

I have the full storm force one and as long as the cars clean when you put it on it wont damage the paint, also the 2 straps stop it moving :)

Yes good point,I always wash the car before the cover go's on :)

Try "Just Roadster" they do Tailored covers for Z's
 
I would sooner risk my paint work than come to my car with a moulded wet patch in my Zed.
 
I think just looking at the cover after 18 months and seeing the tree sap and bird poop and green growth over the cover has convinced me it was the right thing to do, the cover is breathable but even so when its been wet I lift one side just to dry it out under as it can sweat a little, putting on the cover is easy and quick and takes me and the mrs only maybe 2 mins to put on though it does help having a walking stick as I put the strap of the cover into the strap on the end of my stick and slide it from one side of the car to the other ;)

Has anyone owned a "cover-zone storm force all weather 4 layer car cover"
I'm into my 3rd year with this cover, the inner layer is perishing, which leaves a very annoying dusting
On the car each time I remove the cover
Is this due to where I live( beautiful but damp devon!!) Or is 3 year normal life span for a cover?
Anyone else experienced this???
