Hey all first off thanks to everyone who helped with my rattle and oil leak ;)
I now have another problem.... the leaky roof, I had a try at re sealing the rubber grommets at the tip of the pillar but with nowhere to work in the rain it wasn't very successful haha. I'm wondering tho as a really quick fix (and for being parked up at work) what car covers do people have if any? I need something I can just chuck over the car untill I get a dry day to fix it properly.

Thanks in advance

Why not try one of those covers that just cover the roof plenty on Ebay much faster to put on take off and less risk using it if the paintworks dirty with scratching .
Thinking of one myself for when the frost comes saves all that scrapping.

I didn't think of that haha. I'll have a check on the bay for them cheers

I have a Cabrio Shield half cover which is very heavy duty cover and works very well but does not pack down very small. Probably best to try one of the lighter weight ones but when using take care with the holding down straps if you are expecting a windy day.

Just a thought Derek, my roof has never leaked since I sorted the windscreen pillars out until we went to the Duxford meet in the worst rain I've ever seen! Talking to @Brian4 there he suggested turning the roof clamps one rotation making it a tighter fit across the top of the windscreen. Have you tried this? As already said, be careful with covers, I bought cheap and it started scratching the tops of the mirrors and the edge of the boot lid. I'm looking at getting a decent fleece lined cover for winter.

@Grumpy - let me know if you find one. I'd be interested as I'll be looking for a cover to use over the worst of the winter months.

Hi @Grumpy and @Redline are you looking for full covers or just roof covers.I am impressed with the Cabrio Shield half cover which locks under the boot at the rear and into the door shuts at the side. The part that rests on the body has a faint magnetic strip covered in microfibre which has had no effect on the paint in the last year of use.

My neighbour has a cover from these http://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers.html but not cheap. We have one for the caravan and is very good and no marks but not meant as a daily on off for the car. the one for the van is a 2 man job to fit, or one ably assisted by SWMOB:whistle:

For me Brian it wants to be a full cover. The car sits under a carport and gets filthy when stood a while. I'm happy to spend a reasonable amount to get a good one. After all the car is for the long haul.

Thanks for the information. Am looking for a full car cover. The car is likely to be stood for days at a time as it's not necessarily in use every day.

Classic additions do a nice lightweight waterproof half cover with straps.
Nice and light and waterproof so quick and easy to get on and off and fold up into the boot.
Around £40.
I also got it as a short term solution until I could be sure the leak was fixed so didn't want spend a lot.

All covers can scratch if there is dirt on the paint. This one doesn't flap much and you can shorten the straps to make it as tight as you like (by tying u the excess strap in a not).
To avoid scratches for sure I use a microfiber cloth just wipe clean the areas where the straps and cover will contact the bodywork.

The mirror covers are handy as they are non scratch soft nylon breathable material which is a bonus at this price.

For a budget solution very good. Excellent service from them too - the first cover had some loose stitching so they replaced it asap, no quibbles.

Well it's been raining in Scotland now constantly for 6 days. My roof is leaking at the drivers side at the windscreen pillar. I'd be interested in how to tighten the roof clamps if someone could point me in the right direction ....
