2002 2.5 Z3 automatic – when lowering or raising roof car stalls. Checked codes, all clear. Thinking I might have a short within the roof. Went out today to play with the problem. Car would not turn over, fan, buzzer, windows, etc. worked. Jumped the battery and car started with no issues. Tried lowering the roof and the car stalled, restarted, when closing roof car stalled again. Now totally dead, windows don’t work, no buzzer, cannot jump etc…. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Check the brake light switch, sounds silly I know. but if the second make or break part in your brake light switch is dodgy, the side that looks after cruise control and roof up down and other,s.. weird stuff can happen... it happened to me.

Battery is suspect.

Loom of doom

I'M with Tony at the moment.
Get Battery and alternator output checked before delving deeper.

Battery problems can cause all sorts of electrical issues.

Try connecting a different battery - or try putting it on a trickle charge overnight using a repair charger.

Thanks for the suggestions. Charged the battery overnight, car started with no issues and roof works! Alternator is putting out 13.5/13.6 volts. Battery was new a year ago, car parked over the winter with < 100 km (60 miles) since being back on the road. Hoping problem is solved, but my gut is suggesting otherwise..
