Central Locking Weirdness

Good morning all! Im wondering could I ask for some sage advice. I've purchased a Z3 that was in need of some repairs to get it roadworthy and they are now complete (i absolutely love it!!)

The issue that im experiencing now is with the central locking. I don't think its the loom of doom as I've repaired that as part of the other works I've completed. To explain, when I lock the car using the key in the drivers door, it only locks the drivers door. However, when im inside the car and press the actual lock pin down on the passenger side, it locks all doors and the boot. When i press the door pin on the inside of the drivers door, it just locks the drivers door.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms before and could anyone recommend where I should start troubleshooting please?

What happens when using the remote?

remote doesnt work when locking. The little orange light at the top of the remote flashes, but doesnt lock (its a 1999 1.9 version by the way in case that makes any difference) :)
 
Does it still have its original interior rear view mirror.

I’m not sure if that’s the original one or not. But it has cabling coming down to it?
 
One more test to do - if you lock boot with key what happens? From what you have said already I would suspect driver's door actuator fault.
 
So when I lock from the boot, it locks the drivers door and the boot. Does that basically mean I need a new door lock actuator on the passenger side?

That would be my choice tbh. My 2000 Z3 had the same issue. Andy, @spurs fan in a coupe might have one?
