Too much Viagra? Naah, don't need it! (yet!..Mrs Bonzo). My problem is that I have a cassette tape that refuses to eject from the radio unit. Seems to be stuck. Any (sensible constructive, (fat chance)) advice on how to achieve ejectulation? :D

Wonder what BMG comes up with .....
Can't wait to see his thread =))

Take the head unit out of the dash. Remove the top or bottom cover and you will be able to see how the mechanism works. Sometimes even the paper label can come adrift and jam them up.HTH .

Hope this helps bonzo. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: Remove radiogram from beige dashboard.
Step 2: Shake radiogram vigorously. If it rattles, there is still something in there.
Step 3: Find nearest bin and chuck it.
Step 4: Buy a new one with beige tints to match dashboard.

Thank you T-t-t-tony for the only sensible reply. I believe that you fold out the tabs at each end of the head unit and poke something thin into the holes to release it from the dash. What is the best thing to use for this.

There is usually a little hole that you can poke a stick in to mechanically eject the tape out

Cut off some lengths of wire coat hanger, 4 may be needed if there are 2 holes at either side of the head unit. They will need to be about4-5 inches long. Push one into each hole until you feel a "stop" The head unit should slide out of the dash.

Depends which type of unit is fitted - but if it's standard BMW there are 2 retaining screws behind the side flaps - they are small hex drive (cannot remember size). You unscrew these to loosen unit then pull complete unit out and disconnect aerial etc.. The screws do not come out individually and remain attached to removed unit.

It's either in the front or the back, if it's like the ford unit it's on the back

Why would I want to chuck the bin? Come on man, stay with it!....... And the dashboard is wood!

You are spot on jonco, it's been quite a while since I took mine out I'd forgotten those allen screws. You just have to loosen them to release the head unit.
