The detent pins for the ZF 5 speed part number 07119937227 are no longer available.

The gearbox in my misses car has the 5th gear lean and my old box is sitting in the garage. I was going to do the pins then swap it in later this summer when I replace her clutch.

Does anyone know of any options or thoughts on some other random idea?

Forgot to mention. Its just the small cover and not the pin itself. Maybe easy to find some aftermarket part.

Are the caps something that an engineering company could make ?
Stephen.

I buy them direct and the metal caps off ebay, bought some last month. Seems to be plenty about just the price has gone up.

The covers are still available, but your part number is incorrect. While 07119937227 has the same diameter it's slightly taller and, according to the parts catalogue, wasn't used in the transmission. The correct part number is 23317637524.

Will order the other caps but man E bay is steep. 8 to 30 pounds a peace. 3.60 from BMW. Pretty pricey for a small freeze plug.

Ordered the final bits from Sytner BMW in Stevenage. They have been really helpful and are sending the 524 plugs instead of the 227 without hassle.

I've just ordered a set from BMW as I've got a ZF320 to replace the 250G and would like to freshen it up before fitting.

3x 23117525048 – Set of detent pins - £33.01

1x 23317502165 – Locking pin - £96.32

3x 23317637524 – Cover lid - £10.80

2x 23117533395 – Plain bearing - £12.55

2x 23311224825 – Cover lid - £21.14

2x 23317531374 – Lock Ring - £5.42

What are you doing in terms of the fitting tools / drifts?

Ive ordered a set from performance M, but they don't reckon they will get here until June;

I was going to make some drifts and work but ended up getting a set cheap in the States. I have family coming over to visit soon so I just have to wait a bit.

I wish I'd had the balls to ask £120. I might start remaking them :) ...

Thanks for the info regarding the tools.

Pingu - I don't suppose you would be willing to rent a set for a fee? (if you still have one)

(or encouraged to make a few more sets!)
