DIAGNOSTICS HELP NEEDED

Do you have a code reader ? If so what is it saying ?
Normally the module fault is a tad intermittant to start with so the light goes on and off randomly before it refuses to go out.

Brian4 came and bought his but it was playing up so none the wiser.
Yes mine is intermittent. Last few days has been off all the time but came on last night. Off this morning then 4 miles later it's back on again.

sound very familiar to me, the good news is a replacement module (working) is quite cheap. but even if the lights are out at the time of testing it will still have stored the errors.

It could be the module it normally shows an issue with the pump or electrostatic interference.
The pump should be fine its likely to be module that feeds it with the power.
The module on the pump unbolta with 4 torx and one electrical connection.
You need to match it with a numbers matching module there are two numbers you need them both to match it should fix the issue the recode will reinstate the asc
I would try and get a read it will give you an idea as it may just be a sensor thats playing up...

the queue is growing quite well, maybe this is something i need to arrange at other meets too.

You saying that. I was thinking of getting a kit together for polishing out peoples scratches etc. Just bought a Snap On cordless polisher with a few batts. It's amazing.

umm, thats interesting, it could be sheer coincidence though, like mine, i blamed halfords. (posted in response to the 18 wheels, not the pollisher)

ooops, we seem to have completely derailed @Synclare thread, sorry but its for the greater good (the sacrificial lamb as it were)

Not a problem guys, all good stuff. Just got my internet back, felt a bit bereft last couple of days :(

Where and when are you guys meeting. My airbag light has come on during the recent Euro trip. Both Lee and Pgunter tried to help me but neither of their kits would "connect" to my car.
I'm ok when it comes to wealding spanners but electricory/electronics leave me scratching me wotsits

I think I'm looking at Zedfest to have a look at mine but changing my wheels back to see if it makes a difference.
Same as me with electrics dude....:wtf:

This is very generous of you @ littlefeller! You'll have no time to roam around but the social contact you'll have should outweight that I'm sure!! JIM

yes zedfest is where the queue is forming, get in line:)

I can't make it to Zedfest I'm afraid so might have to invest in my own scanner or diagnostics program for my laptop. I've got a problematic Volvo that needs attention too.

My car is pre facelift and could not connect to @Lee or @pgunter scanner when they tried to help me on the recent Euro trip. As Lee's and Paul's cars are newer than mine, could this be one of the reasons the diagnostic tool wouldn't work?

I know my OBD port is working as I have a service light reset tool that I used to reset my service lights when I did my recent home service.

Next question, do the new diagnostic tools read pre 2000 cars as well as post 2000 ?

Can anyone recommend a decent diagnostic tool that I can use on my 2002 Volvo too, this has the 16 pin socket ?

I live miles from civilisation, it's 100miles to nearest motorway, so it's best I get my own kit. I don't mind the miles, it's the time it takes up as my time at home is limited due to my working arrangements.

if your wanting a scanner that is generic for most cars and go back to earlier cars, these are pretty expensive and used by garages, most of the cheaper hand held scanners are fairly limited in both function and choice of car models, there good for scanning codes and resetting them (dont know anything about Volvos though so cant help there, if your keeping the zed for the foreseeable then just invest in the bmcables setup, its only £25. i brought the cables for £25 and the software was supplied for free (though if i remember correctly i already had the round pin part of the cable so if you need that part to its prob more like £35, still cheap though)

Thank you Jason @littlefeller so I just need to by the bmcables set up and use my laptop ? That sounds what I'm looking for. I might well invest in the whole package as it's just £50 all in, just in case I elect to buy a Z4 coupe sometime in the future.

Just need to make sure my laptop can support it, or could just get another cheap tablet as long as it's got enough memory
