This is a bit like does the fridge light go off when you close the door scenario ;)
Anyway on my boot lid there are 2 push switches but when I hold both in with my thumbs the light remains on. So to be safe I disconnected the wire to prevent battery drain until I'm sure it goes out.
Is there another switch?

Hello, neither of those are in fact the boot light switches. The switch for the boot light is actually inside the latch mechanism, and is compressed by a rod that protrudes from the corresponding part of the latch.

Apologies for the poor explanation, someone else will be along soon enough with a picture or two. I'm tired haha

^^correct David, @Kit you can put your phone etc. in the boot on video record an then shut the boot, wait a few seconds and then play back the video, this will tell you if the light goes out:)

One way to check to see if the boot light goes off is to use a phone facing upwards in the boot and set it to video record. Simples;)

Edit - you just beat me to it Brian.

Thanks thats brilliant never thought of putting my phone in the boot:banghead:, so now what are the 2 switches then, alarm maybe.

You can always climb in and shut the lid, I'm sure someone will hear you screaming before your lights go out and open the lid. Use the washroom first just in case!! JIM

............ so now what are the 2 switches then, alarm maybe.

If you are talking about the two switches in the boot lid, these are just spring loaded plungers to help raise the boot lid a little when you open it.

Those Germans think of everything.

Well just tried the iPhone in the boot on movie mode and yep the light goes off.
Anyone want the movie? you must be sad if you do but be warned its scary, some was in the dark with load bangs and its on you tube here is the link.

I'm going to try this with the Fridge, thanks Brian...

For those of us who lived before mobile telephones and, dare I say it, before video cameras too, the way was to go to the car after a period of time open the lid and feel the light housing. If it was warm then the light had been on. If it was cold it hadn't. Even simpler!
