@Siamanda can't help with the emmissions but I had the two flexible break pipe lines changed recently at a BMW main dealer, £29.59 each for parts plus fitting. £124.28 Inc VAT parts and labour to have them changed and a fluid change. Probably get it cheaper elsewhere but should be the max you'd pay.

If you're up to changing brake pipes yourself Si, I can make you some and post them to you. Oil temperature showing 17 deg. no where even close to hot enough. At that temp the eng. temp gauge wouldn't be showing normal operating temperature. That is the first prompt on an emission analyser for the tester to follow. It really makes my blood boil that these people can't be bothered to do the job properly.

If your car is a low mileage/use one I would run the fuel down below 1/4 before test time and put in some fuel system cleaner and yes I do recommend Forte, simply because it is very good. Also don't forget you can have your car tested up to 30 days before the old one expires so don't leave it till the last minute. And before someone says " But you lose 2weeks off your last test " ..... Really? It gives you the time to get things put right if required.Top tip come MOT time, thanks Tony

Agree with you @t-tony - do you think they have even measured it or is it an ambient?. It reads the same for both tests - the engine must have been doing something between tests as there is a significant change in HC levels?
Must be the ambient temp Colin. The first two cars that I tested today both failed the BET test and so required the full Cat test. One was a V6 Ford Cougar which we can't measure engine speed which makes it more of a pain but I persevered and it still failed but a least it was tested correctly. The next was a 1999 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo, after warming the oil up to 80 deg. It passed easily. In both cases it just took more time, and that is the crux of the matter, these testing stations want to cram in as many tests as they can in a day and so don't want to waste time doing the test right. It just isn't fair on the car owner IMHO.

I used the BMW brake pipes which are plastic coated and were £13 each so not really that expensive but if Tiny supplies them they will be cheaper.
Where are you based? just seen from the phone no. New Forest
Need to do as above put some engine cleaner in and the car needs a good run at higher revs and make sure it is good and hot next time it goes for the MOT.
As @t-tony says if you take the car in up to 30 days before the MOT is due you will get the MOT for 12 months from the date on the old certificate.

on th e emissions test it looks like the oil temp hasnt changed which could mean the tester hasnt used the oil temp probe after the initial bet testperameters have not been met.having the correct oil /engine temp does make a difference.maybe take it back and see if they can test it again but this time use the temp probe.you could also make sure that the engine is nice and warm when you take it back.worth a try before you start spending....good luck.
Good points @Kevlar, but remember, if your test is booked for 10.00 be there at 9.55 with your engine hot and ask them to test the emissions first whilst it is still hot. There is no reason for them to refuse to do this.

Mines just flopped on the co2 emissions reading. I couldn't get forte as recommended by @t-tony at Halfords but got the Wynns equivalent. Ran some through the system yesterday and taking it a good blast up and down the bypass near the mot station in the morning to get the oil nice and hot and straight back in for retest.
Yes as already said regarding getting the test done early. Took my Saab last week with 4 weeks left on it and came out with 13 months test.
