Exhaust Bracket

www.fcpeuro.com
I've found this company in the USA
You clearly didn't heed my post of Feb 15th Steve under the heading "Fractured Exhaust on 2002 1.9". the bracket stops the downpipe fracturing at the manifold flange. :bookworm:
Which is why I intend to buy a bracket Adrian

Seems like a common part that goes. On my M it was actually an MOT failure when BMW used to do it.

If you buy one from BMW, why not go the whole hog and have the parts galvanised, might stop the need to replace it again in the future.

Mike

Today the old girl when in to have the exhaust bracket fitted

Another 5 BHP then Steve! Did they 'Copaslip' the vertical bolt to make life easier later? I see it was raining your way too then :(

No mate they were never going to do that as it cost money

Where did you get it from in the end? Not seem like something easy enough to do on jacks?

You could do it on axillary stands but I don't have a jack or stands but for the cost of £10 to fit why bother your self.
I got them from BMW Soper.
The long bracket £11.86
The short bracket £11.86
The bolt £1.50

For £10 I would someone else get there hands dirty plus even if I had the tools working on the roadside isn't good and why risk a jack collapse. My life is worth more than a tenner

Afternoon Davy.
Prompted by this thread l looked at mine and found it shot. I removed it last night easy enough with car on axle stands under both front jacking points. New parts should be here on Friday and should be easy enough to install in the time honoured 'assembly is the reverse of the removal ' as per Haynes! I will be copper-slipping at no additional charge.

Cheers,

Jonno

I enjoyed reading other people's write ups.
I could have saved my self some cash by not ordering the short bottom bracket as the was nothing wrong with it so if anyone needs a bottom bracket I have one. FOC

Maybe, either way I'm sure some one on the forum can put your generous offer to good use.
