Hi all

Been having issues with rough idle - see separate post. Anyway

Took the plunge and bought both the bcables INPA and a new idle control valve.

Fitted valve today and no improvement.

Read fault codes and had loads - funny the garage that read them few weeks ago said there wasn't any!

Anyway managed to clear all and reset my airbag light.

Now only engine fault code is

175 Output suction pipe - switching

Does anyone have any idea what this means?

Trying to install TIS onto laptop that came with cables but not having it at the moment, keeps crashing.

Also have

71 ASC pump code which I'm guessing means new pump required to fix the abs light fault.
Had codes in for some speed sensors but cleared them and after a drive they have not come back.

It may not be the actual pump but could be an associated function. I read the codes for another member last year who had a DSC fault. The code said pump failure which would have been an expensive fix. When he got back home he checked and changed the fuse - problem solved and I think Ok since.

Hi Dobbo, I bought the bcables stuff last week and it took me 4 attempts to load the TIS - keep going. Although, having said that, I haven't managed to get the TIS to open yet as it wont accept my VIN number! - loads of functions in the INPA, I keep finding new ones.:bookworm:

175 output pipe refers to the actuation of the disa valve for the long or short switching of the intake plenum, if the valve is not being actuated then could cause rough running. It works on vacuum so check all the hisses around the disa and plenum, there is a short one right at the front of the plenum ad you look at it, this goes very brittle and falls apart.

Usually not the actual pump but the controller which can be unplugged and replaced or repaired.

@Zed Carer fitted a replacement module to his so may give some help.

I take it you are referring to the ABS/ASC issue?
Checked the fuses this afternoon and all are good under the bonnet. Is there an additional fuse box? Lid of fuse box under bonnet gives several fuse numbers for ASC one of them being 49 but no 49 in there as goes up to 40?

I had a look at the DISA this afternoon and found an electrical plug on it with bad connection. Repaired the connection and plugged in the INPA. Cleared the fault and not re occurred after a short drive. Idle better but still not as it should be I don't think.
Maybe over thinking it now. Idle sounds worse due to stainless exhaust which amplifies every little blip.

Will check to pipes out tomorrow after work for sure.

........... being 49 but no 49 in there as goes up to 40?

There is fuse behind the passenger glove box - I think that is 49. I've seen the fuse and read about it somewhere but can't remember where.

Does anyone know is there a way to test the ASC pump?

Found something to "activate" it in the INPA software but not really sure how all the INPATIENT works at the moment. Had engine running at the time plugged in and when tried to activate asc pump it comes up with a error that module didn't allow.

Also does anyone know about the "smoothness" info in INPA?

I had a cylinder with different figures to the others. I cleared everything and now it's a different cylinder with much lower figures than the others.

Also stumbled across a reading for fuel tank vacuum.
Has a scale on it up to 20 and I have reading of 36.99 with an ! Mark.

Should I be concerned?
Ran without fuel filler cap and made no difference.

Smoothness tells you how aligned and good running the cylinders are, a wayward figure could indicate fueling or a misfire condition, check your plugs, a poor or loose plug could give you this also a HT lead breaking down. Fuel wise it could be a leaky injector, worn seals or dirty.

I guess this could also give the poor idle?!

Plugs were replaced in service by local garage few weeks ago so shouldn't be them. Could be lead or injector I guess.
Are cylinders numbered front to back?

Checked all fuses and are ok.

Does anyone know a way to test if I have a faulty pump or control?

Also if it is the pump where can I get one? Is the part number on the picture?

The part number in the photo is for the ASC Controller, the actual pump has a separate part number. As others have said the pump very rarely fails but the controllers have been failing as some of the ribbon solder connections dryout and crack. There are a couple of places that will test a controller and repair it for around £200, assuming that a repair is possible. The other thing is that the part numbers for the controller and pump actually fitted to the car were totally different from the RealOEM part numbers!

Full details of my experience can be found HERE If you have to change the controller then AFAIK you can recode it with INPA.

I guess I need to search eBay for one with the same number as in my pic then.
Then swap it out, bleed system and re code using my bcables stuff that arrived last week.

Love the car but getting bit fed up with all the "little" problems I'm finding since buying it!

There seems to be loads of different numbers on the items for sale on eBay.

Do I need the exact same number?
Which number is it in the pic?
Does this unit do abs and asc or is there abs somewhere else?
Is the controller the black box in the pic or is it somewhere else?

Sorry full of questions and just want to get sorted now without spending too much more money.

Simon, I would try having a word with Andy (spurs fan in a coupe), he is breaking Z's and he has currently a 1.9 if I remember right. He is very helpful and a real nice guy to boot. He is likely to be posting some thing to me soon so it might be better if he sends 2 things in one parcel if that helps.

Tony.
