Hi all,
My Zed has developed a clunk at the front end only when turning left, not up to checking it out at the mo as I've gastroenteritis. Any ideas before I start ripping things apart next week.
Thanks
Tec

Broken spring comes to mind, as does seized/collapsed strut top mount. Anti-roll bar links, track rod end, worn steering rack, lower arm mounts, loose caliper. Loose wheel nuts, too. A few thoughts there, something to look forward to once you recover.
Thanks for the reply, I'll get it up on the jack and check some stuff soon, as I have done some work on the front end recently, wheel refurb, drop links, new calipers.
Cheers @the Nefyn cat

You're welcome, probably turn out to be none of the above but if you've been doing stuff in the front end recently it could be something gone wrong there, just because a part is new doesn't mean it can't fail. Fitted many a new part in my time only to find out that the new bit went wrong straight away. Just don't try straining on anything tight till you're sure you're fully recovered.

I agree, gutted though cos I'll miss the Weston BM meet tomorrow.

Couldn't wait, I just had to find out what it was. Found the culprit, drop link bottom bolt nylok had gone awol.

Good news it was an easy fix mate?:)

Tony.

I agree, annoying that a nyloc had come off, never seen that before, drivers side was coming undone also, replaced them both with different types now. And of course had to take it for a test drive to make sure.

Never a "nostalgia" emoticon when you need it, nylocs ain't what they used to be. Did the nuts come with the parts? And if so, where did the parts come from, just in case anyone else here is about to buy some? Nosey bugger, ain't I?

No, the nuts didn't come with the links, had them in the garage from for ever ago. Replaced the new bolts I fitted as well just in case there was an issue with them. Links came from GSF and seem good quality.

Had the locks been used previously? If so they had a preformed thread pattern along with the new which could cause them to loosen off with vibration. Always use new nylocks! JIM

No, they were new Jim. On closer inspection the nylon inserts were too big and the thread of the bolt didn't touch. As I said, never seen that before, duff batch by the looks of it.
