As above , when the new bearing/ hub goes onto the stub axle it doesn’t spin when the axle nut is tightened.
The bearing seems to seat all the way but the nut appears to clamp the bearing so it won’t spin freely any one know what’s happening, don’t want to damage new parts!

Can only assume it is faulty. If you can't tighten the hubnut it is no use?

Tony.

Just asking here, are you over tighting it? Should be 290 Nm 214 ft-lb

No mate , just nipping the nut up . The whole assembly is off the car as the strut is new as is the backplate etc

Won’t torque properly until back on the car but something not right!

It was just a thought, as Tony said then, probably a bad bearing?

Will take another look later, just ordered a set of springs ,wasn’t going too but seems wrong not to as virtually everything else is new!

What part numbers have got for the strut and bearing?

Tony.

I’ve already checked again Tony, as I’ve a tendency do get things wrong as I’m getting older lol.The hubs are Febi and cross refefence with real OEM,shocks are like for like replacements from Sachs

The knuckle which is part of the hub isn’t part of the shocker thinking about it, so really it can only be the bearing that can be faulty?

Tony.

Thanks for your time Tony, very frustrating as everything looks correct it’s just that final tightening of the nut .

Does the new bearing assembly (hub) come with a new nut?

Tony.

No , was using the original as it’s in good condition. Will try and get some measurements of the hub when I finish work tomorrow, had enough today!

That's strange. If it is a "Stake" nut, they usually supply a new one so there is a new surface to punch into the groove wherever the new nut stops.

Tony.

ps. Did it come as a complete hub and bearings assembly or just a new bearing?

Complete hub/ bearing assembly Tony. Will take some pics tomorrow

Some pics as promised although they don’t give much away? Parts number on the box correspond with the BMW part number…..can anyone see what I’m missing. Thanks for your time

Have you tried it using the new hub nut?

Tony.

I only have the original Tony , think I may try an aftermarket as at the moment I can’t see what else is causing the problem.

Quick update, sent for a NAPA wheel bearing off eBay as it was cheap and I’m fed up wasting money and it bolts straight on with no problems so I still have no idea whats going on with the Febi bearings .

I know you checked the part number, but are the Febi bearings exactly the same dimensions as the NAPA one? Its not unknown for parts to find there way into the wrong box!
