Well I had an offer of getting Ebbee onto a rolling road today to check how well she was against the quoted BMW figures. Interestingly enough... 173.5BHP Very happy..

Fuel - Shell V Nitro ( Since October 2014 )
K&N Air Filter

Regular service and recently new standard plugs and oil change 0W-30.

Nothing more has been done.

BMW Quote 170 BHP for the 2.2i Sport 2001. So having the figure above makes it a great feeling.

Nice to see you have not lost any horses on the way :)

@Brian H Something to be said for running with quality fuel and keeping her in top form.
Auto Express did a comparison years ago, city car, Golf GTI and a Subaru Imprezza. The GTI gained a couple of horses and the Imprezza gained 6 (six) so it does work and works well.

Started my new Zed off on Shell V Power obviously not a clue what the last couple of owners have used.
Have always used Shell V Power on all my cars in the hope it keeps everything clean and running smoothly.
Great your car is in peek condition power wise.

I regularly use a bottle of Forte Petrol treatment in my Z3 and at 87,000 at the last test was clean as a whistle. How much extra is Shell V Power compared with supermarket fuel over a year?

Tony.

Bad experience with supermarket fuel on one of my other cars. Everytime it was used the engine light came on.
Put decent branded fuel in problem gone as the light went out shortly after.
Tried this after a year putting supermarket fuel in again and light on again.
Back to brannded fuel light out.
Tells you something for the sake of a few pence more per litre.
Not saying this is the case for all but Shell V works for me .
A bottle of injection fuel cleaner once a year can't hurt either.

My daily driver previous to the one I have now was an Audi A4. The mpg used to suffer with supermarket fuels. To the extent that one filter issue was put down to poor fuel by Audi.

My new mileage muncher is a VW CC and a sport TDi. Goes like the clappers and recommended by main dealer to put only good quality fuel in. Not all fuels are equal in quality at the pump. You pay for what you get.

The more complex the machine, the more fussy they get. I only use Shell diesel in the VW and get 55 to 60 mpg. So happy with that.

The cost over normal unleaded @t-tony for v-nitro would depend upon the mileage. It's normally about 8 to 10 pence per litre dearer. A small cost for running on quality fuel in my mind. So average 30 litres £3 more. Two to three tanks per month over the summer. One over the winter. So maybe 25 tank fill ups a year max. £75 !! Less than running an engine clean .

I run my works Fiesta Van on supermarket diesel and get 65-70mpg every fill up.
It's our company policy to use the cheapest fuel we can.

I've tried running my Merc and Zed on "high octane" fuels and to be honest, I haven't noticed any difference in performance or economy.

My nearest fuel station is a Shell so that is what I tend to feed my Zed and Merc on although I do use supermarket fuel too. They both run fine:cool:

I'll get mine dyno'd soon and then can compare against a 2.2 which has had a sketchy service history, and doesn't always get the good stuff when it does Could make an interesting comparison?

@Jack Ratt Well being that far south.. the good stuff would have evaporated by the time its got down the A30.. stuck behind the 'bloody tourists' taking over our roads... lol..

This is normally what you see on the A30.. but the tractor and trailer just turned off.. @Jack Ratt

Yeah @pgunter just pulled over and think that's what's given Mrs Ratt a face like thunder =))

I run a Company Car (Volvo V40) and my thought process is I pay enough TAX on the thing and a uplift / payment for having it, benefit in kind it certainly is not!
They pay for the servicing and repair bills so I put the cheapest diesel I can find which is always going to be supermarket. If it falls over and breaks down so what!!
But on the flip side it does an average of 70mpg (1.6ltr) so I cannot grumble too much.

Just been to North Wales on a nice long trip in the Z and you try getting decent fuel up there :o on the way there we used £32 worth of fuel and that was zig zaggin all the way up wales then a trip around the mountains about 230 miles so not to bad :)

Perhaps @Cappy ..........:p
Hit the wrong button @pgunter :)
Hope he changes it for you ;)
