Hi does anyone know if there are other sources for the thicker Z3 head gasket or is it only bmw who make it have searched all over the web and the only place I have found them is in america they are very expensive

I agree here Adrian but his was to reduce compression after heavy surface planning had increased it. I can't see why you would want one on a 4 pot Z3, assuming it hasn't been skimmed before?to restore compression ratio following numerous head skims
Hi to you if you do not use the thicker head gasket on the z3 after it has been skimmed the valves will hit the Pistons you can only skim the head a maximum of 11 thousands of an inch the compression stays the sameThicker gasket will reduce your compression ratio - why would you want to do this?
Tony.
I think you will find BMW do not make them, more likely be Victor Reinz (OEM suppliers) or perfectly o.k to use Elring or Payen again both OEM suppliers. They can be sourced from motor factors or I guess the likes of EuroCarParts could get you one.
Absolutely, I'm guessing as Jane hasn't expanded on matters she has been told her head gasket has blown, needs a skim and thicker

Surely you must still know a supplier for what you need?Hi head gasket had blown head was warped had head skimmed so need the thicker head gasket to keep the compression the same the thicker head gasket is to stop the valves hitting the Pistons as the clearance is very small When you use the thicker gasket you are increasing the combustion chamber
Back to what it was before it was skimmed
Ps I used to recondition engines for a living
Being a such important part, especially when thicker, I will buy it from BMW!Hi tried every where for one none of the major manufacturers stock them
Had to buy one from bmw £93 (robbers)
