Hi
I may have the opportunity to buy a damaged wide body 3.0, it's got rear quarter damage wheel damage not sure as not have looked at it yet but the op suspects the car is going to be a right off as it's on a trader policy.

Cheers
Dave

3.0 demand a higher price than the others bar the ///M. Can't quote a price really as there's a lack of info on the car, mileage, spec etc.

In good condition with decent history it would be around £3500 - 4000

I bought my 2.8 auto with 88k miles for £2995 3yrs ago. Good condition and FSH

It depends how much damage. But if an insurance write-off at a salvage auction I'd say less than £1,000. As little as £600-£750 maybe. A private sale especially with minimal damage might be put up at double that. I agree with the £3,500 to £4,000 valuation for a decent one. But with a repaired Cat write-off (if that's what it is) it won't be worth more than 60% of that, ie about £2,500.

If it's just outer rear wing damage it's an hour's work to change it for a decent one from a breaker at a cost of £50-£75. But if the wheel is smacked too you might be looking at a bent suspension too and chassis damage. Would be very careful there.

Please let me know if you don't go ahead and/or forward my details to the seller as this would be ideal for what I'm looking for after my current project :)

Thanks for the replies. I am hopefully going to view the car tomorrow, hangover prevailing (Newmarket races today) so will update after that .
I am hoping it's not too bad and it's a friend mates rates and all that, will take some photos and etc you know the outcome.
Cheers

Door/ quarter outer sill and bumper are all bolt on .
Is the wheel bent out of line can't really tell in pictures

Oh yeah see it in that one wheel well out . But that could just be suspension damage as the body not too bad.
Is it registered as crashed. If so will have cat c

Hi
Yes the wheel is slightly bent out as you said all parts bolt on so not a huge issue.
Not sure if it has been written off or not my friend is a trader and it was his personal car us the fact he is a difficult to get hold of.

Will keep the post updated when I know some more fingers crossed.

I suspect damage to the inner wing is possible. Down the door flange and lower front of the arch flange and maybe in between. I'd preferably want to see it with the outer wing off before committing. This is what it looks like inside and those flanges are very close to that damage.

If you're adept with panel beating tools that might be all it needs. But it could mean a trip to the bodyshop.

Also watch out on the rear light lens. The gasket has burst out by the looks of it and that's a very securely stuck piece of rubber. There could be internal damage there too forcing it to ride up. If nothing else a new gasket is £25 for a cr*ppy piece of self-adhesive rubber so watch out for small items like that. If you have to replace the light then those white indicator versions are not cheap.

You might have a cracked wheel arch liner too though the sill cover might actually be okay.

Bear in mind that's a rare colour and you are very unlikely to find the right colour panels. So paint is probably inevitable.

It seems to have the wrong wheels? Has anything else original been swapped out on it?

yes i see what you mean i will try and have a more through look and see how much he wants.

Thanks for the heads up and info. I am not aware of any wheel changes although I shall ask. The guy has owned it for 9 years I think I shall try and probe him for some more info.
Cheers

Well fi ally caught up with my friend, the car has spilt rims to go with it and he told me to wait a week he needs to speak to the assessor so am guessing will be written off and hopefully will get a price!

The damage to the car does look superficial, my only worry here would be the rear beam and trailing arm setup, the trailing arms do bend quite easily so hopefully this took most of the impact. Strange to see those wheels on the car but as you said there are split rims that also go with the car.

At the right price this could be worth a punt.
