Hi all
I am having what appears to be classic starter motor issues
Every now and then I turn the key and get the dreaded 'Click.'
I assume its a starter motor problem ??
However if I jump start from my Outlander the extra punch turns it over first time.
So is it starter motor or battery.
Readings off the battery seem pretty good
Anybody got any tips re changing the starter ?? it's a bit tucked away on a 2.8 Z3

If it jumps well, it could be battery and or terminals maybe give them a good clean. Are jumping on front terminals? Or battery?

Simple way to check.
next time it clicks, put it into a high gear (3/4/5) and push it back and forth from behind. (Rock it two three times) Then try again. (This used to work on my old e36 that had a bad starter).

Battery would be my first port of call.

Tony.

Could be the battery is starting to lose it's cranking amperage power if it turns over OK with outlander connected.. HAlfords will test the cranking amps for free with their battery tester.

Tony beat me to it :)

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Sounds like a trip to Halfords then

better do a bit of research on prices before I go, as they'll want to sell me a new one.

New Battery....problems solved
Strangely the central locking was not locking the drivers door....now it does !
